Clock - fairly obvious if it is a timed test, but useful in all circumstances
Review/progress screen - here you can present the candidate with the list of items (or at least the item numbers) and an indication of whether an answer has been given/selected or even if the item has yet been viewed by the candidate.
Navigation - here you can allow the candidate to move backwards or forwards through the test, or skip to specific items.
Randomisation of questions - the order in which items are delivered can be randomised so that no two candidates see the same set of items in the same order
Randomisation of distracters - similar to the above but randomising the order in which the distractors are presented to the candidate
Instructions - presented at the beginning of the test and made available throughout the test as a help facility
Practice questions - both as a means of the candidate becoming familiar with the style of test but also to feel comfortable with navigation and other facilities
Questionnaires - can be presented after the formal test to get feedback from the candidate for anything from commercial information, feedback on the electronic test, to demographic data.
